GUIDE · WISCONSIN

Tell your agent how the property is occupied.

A primary home, an occasional-use property, a rental, and an empty house are different situations. Explain the arrangement before assuming one home policy description fits.

Start with who uses the address.

Write down who lives at the property, how often it is occupied, and whether anyone pays to stay there. Mention a move, estate transition, renovation, or period away from home. The insurer’s questions concern the actual use, not simply what you call the building.

Ask before the arrangement changes.

Tell Todd about a planned vacancy, rental, or occasional-use arrangement before relying on coverage. Some situations require different terms or a different policy, and availability is not guaranteed by this guide. A platform’s protection is not a substitute for reviewing your own policy.

A short occupancy review list.

You can summarize the situation in the optional quote message, then ask how to provide documents if needed.

  • Who stays at the property and whether payment is involved.
  • Dates of a planned move, renovation, or extended absence.
  • Who checks the property and which buildings are used.
  • Questions about the policy’s occupancy conditions and reporting requirements.

Questions before you start.

Can I assume my policy stays the same if I rent a room?

No. Explain the planned activity to Todd and ask how it affects available coverage. Confirm any changes rather than treating a website message as approval.

Useful resources.

Independent resources provide additional context; they do not imply a government endorsement of Luedtke Insurance.

General information only. Coverage, eligibility, limits, exclusions, and availability depend on the insurer and actual policy. This page does not bind, change, or cancel insurance. Confirm your specific needs with Todd and your insurer.
