An addition, a finished room, and major mechanical work are different changes. Tell Todd what is planned, whether anyone will live in the home during the project, and when the work is expected to begin. Ask what information the insurer needs before and after the work.
Separate the home’s coverage from the contractor’s.
Ask about your own property and responsibilities. Have the contractor explain its insurance through appropriate documentation; do not assume a certificate expands your homeowners policy. This guide does not determine whether a contractor’s coverage or your policy is adequate.

When the project is complete, contact Todd about updated property details and any need to revisit the rebuilding estimate. Keep the project records privately.

Does paying for the work automatically increase my dwelling limit?
No. Discuss the changes with your agent and confirm the policy details. A project invoice does not itself change an insurance limit.
